Cycle Stand and Bus shed
The design tackles problem of cycle parking solution at Nilkhet book market. Nilkhet is very popular market place for book lovers & students. But the market is deprived of proper sitting & bicycle stand, which is one of the major transport of students. The key idea for the project was to create a modern and modular ‘furniture’ for the market. In addition to the bicycle parking the design could facilitate greenery, benches and a place for local hawkers which are incorporated into the form of the parking in an organized way.
The proposed modules are made of reinforced concrete mould or frame with infill screen made of wooden profiles. Concrete could be a good background for growing vines. Concrete recycled form old concrete bus shelters could be used in production process.
Combined modules could create new elements in the landscape, where you can safely and comfortably park your bike for buying books or do a break during a walk in the city or relax after a bicycle ride. Those new elements of small architecture could enhance “green lungs of city” by creating a vivid and pleasant oasis of greenery.
Bus Shed emerges as a dynamic parametric exploration of form and fluidity of design. Each frame, positioned with calculated angularity, engages in a ballet with the sun, a dance that evolves with the day’s passage. It is a symphony of form and light, a spectacle of shadows and highlights that breathe life into the static structure
